The wonderful bunch here at St Brigid’s Catholic Learning Community, Gisborne would love to say hello!

Meet Our Teachers

At the top of the list when measuring the quality of a school has to be the quality of the teaching staff. We are beyond fortunate to have a team of teachers truly dedicated to positive outcomes for all children.

Meet our teachers below!

Leadership & Administration

Maree Morris

Maree Morris

Principal

Hi, I’m Maree Morris. I  live in the beautiful township of Gisborne and feel blessed to be Principal here at St Brigid’s.

I have two amazing, adult children who also attended St Brigid’s. We live on acreage with dogs, cats, horses and many gorgeous chickens who provide us with fresh eggs and friendship!

I am passionate about education and feel privileged to have been a teacher and leader in a number of Catholic schools. At St Brigid’s, we aspire to ignite the passions and learning of each individual. We nurture relationships, develop connections and build community.
We pride ourselves on our excellent practices, high expectations and dedicated staff!

I am truly blessed to be leading St Brigid’s school; a proud, vibrant, high achieving school with a deep commitment to offering your children an education of the highest standards.

I look forward to meeting you.

Kathleen McCann

Kathleen McCann

Deputy Principal & Junior School Teacher

My name is Kathleen McCann and I have been at St Brigid’s in various roles for many years. St Brigid’s is such a welcoming community and I love how we all work together to support and grow with each other.
Away from school I love reading, gardening and AFL, especially St Kilda.

Gabe Agius

Gabe Agius

Leader of Learning

As the ‘Leader of Learning’ I have the role of leading staff to ensure we are meeting the learning needs of our students, developing and implementing student assessment and reporting strategies, and reflecting on and improving teaching practices based on research and evidence. I have been teaching for over 20 years and I still have a passion and drive and feel privileged to be entrusted to educate the children at St Brigid’s.  What I love best about St Brigid’s is the fact that we are a small school and every teacher knows and feels connected to every student.
I am married and have four children who are heavily involved in local sports so I enjoy watching them play football, basketball and netball. As a family we often go camping and fishing.

Sue Royle

Sue Royle

Administration

I have worked in the Office at St Brigid’s for 17 years. In that time I have seen many families come and go. I have watched the Preps start their school journey then graduate in Grade 6. I have even seen some of them return to complete their Work Experience here.  I feel that being such a small school, I am able to really get to know the families and their children and cater for their individual needs. I enjoy being able to help others, be it the children, parents or staff.  On the occasional weekend, I also work at Flemington Racecourse (in the horse stalls and mounting yard). When I’m not working I love riding my Can Am (a three wheeler motorcycle) and spending time with my family, including my gorgeous little granddaughter.

I have worked at St Brigid’s for over 10 years and have enjoyed every day.

I believe first impressions are important so I greet everyone to our beautiful school with a cheery and welcoming smile.
No two days are ever the same and there’s never a dull moment.

In my spare time I enjoy walking and spending time with my family.

Keena Lane-Kerton

Foundation / Prep Teacher

Hi I’m Keena and I have the privilege of working with the youngest at St. Brigid’s; the Foundation year children. Every day in our learning space is an adventure where the children use their natural curiosity to explore, ask questions, have fun, make new friends and develop their enthusiasm and love for learning. It’s exciting to see these little ones grow and learn. St. Brigid’s is a great example of a community that cares for and about children. As we are a small school we all know and look out for each other.
When I am not at St. Brigid’s I love to spend time with my family and friends. I play and coach netball and enjoy reading and going to the movies.

Hello. My name is Leigh Shore and I teach the Juniors. I have only been at St Brigid’s for a short time, but I have managed to form many friendships due to the welcoming nature of the school. There is also such a strong sense of community throughout the school, which instantly made me and anyone else who enters feel welcome.

I love coming to school each day! As a member of the St Brigid’s family for over 10 years I have developed many strong connections throughout the community. These links are what make us special! Not only do we all know each child by name but we also know every family member, and we value what each person brings to our community. We support, inspire and nurture the growth in each other, developing and expressing our unique gifts and talents. My aim is to have each person know they belong, and are connected and valued in all their uniqueness.

I love my St. Brigid’s family. As a past student, an involved parent of over 10 years and a teacher, I am a very passionate and proud member of our school community. My children and I could not wish for a more loving and supportive environment to learn and grow. I am grateful for the dedication and enthusiasm our staff, parents and students alike show each and every day to make our community so unique.

I am very fortunate in my role to be able to teach and get to know every student at St. Brigid’s each week. I learn so much from them and am excited about what we can achieve together as a team.

I love working at St Brigid’s because it is an inclusive, collaborative and supportive learning community.  As a small school it is fantastic to see the strong connections between parents, students, teachers and the wider community. I enjoy working in the Seniors and seeing the students grow as leaders and as people. They are able to engage in hands on learning tasks that ignites their curiosity and creativity for the world around them. Outside of school I enjoy watching my beloved Bombers play footy, going to the beach, playing netball and hanging out with my friends and family.

Adam Bremner

Adam Bremner

Senior School Classroom Teacher

St Brigid’s Primary has such a wonderful community and I love being a part of it. The friendly faces that I get to see every day make it such a happy place to be. The staff’s dedication to learning, and the student’s willingness to try new things, make it a creative and energetic learning environment. I have only been teaching here for a short time, but I look forward to putting many years into the school. I enjoy being in the outdoors, hiking and exploring, and the school location means that it’s only a very short drive to exploring state parks and with playground views of Mt Macedon, I can’t think of a better place to teach.

Specialised Teachers

Ramona Baker

Ramona Baker

Physical Education Teacher & Sport Coordinator

I started at St Brigid’s as a classroom teacher then moved on to teach Physical Education. I love providing students a wide range of activities, games and sports through active, engaging and positive experiences. Our school is perfectly located in the township of Gisborne as we can easily tap into local resources, such as soccer fields, football grounds, tennis courts and the skate park, to provide diverse learning experiences.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy photography, camping (glamping!) and creating special memories with my family.

Cristina Huarte-Claughton

Cristina Huarte-Claughton

Psychologist

I enjoy being in contact with the school community at St Brigid’s.  Before becoming a psychologist, I was a teacher for many years in Melbourne and overseas in my country Argentina.  I am very interested in the visual arts, used to paint in oils in the classic style and I am a member of the National Gallery of Victoria.  I keep fit by eating healthily and practising Pilates on a weekly basis.  I like psychological thrillers and human relations movies.  I am a curious person so I feel a sense of discovery visiting new places and learning about different customs and people.

Clare Shannon

Clare Shannon

Visual Arts Teacher

I love the energy and enthusiasm that radiates from all at St.Brigid’s. Teaching art is a guilty pleasure that allows me to be immersed in colour, texture and all the elements that art mixes together. The students explore original ways to use materials and express themselves in a unique way. I’m always amazed at the imagination and creativity that is expressed and  flows from the art room.
When I’m not at school I love to spend time with my family and friends. I’m passionate about the environment and spend much time climbing and discovering the trails around Mt.Macedon and the surrounds.

My role at St Brigid’s is ICT, support and online help-desk.

After four decades of teaching I still enjoy coming into our school and working with everyone. Each day is different from the one before.

The feeling of community, the care and concern for the students, teachers parents and visitors makes St Brigid’s a very special school and I count myself very lucky to have been a part of it.

I have worked as a learning support officer for five years as of this year and enjoy helping children to learn new skills both academically and socially. I am also interested in martial arts and used to instruct children’s martial art classes in Brunswick. It was here that I really enjoyed teaching kids important life skills that could help them in understanding how to deal with conflict and communicate better with others. Outside of working in a school as an LSO I really enjoy snowboarding with my university friends as well as playing basketball and footy!

Robyn Delaney

Robyn Delaney

Learning Support Officer

Hi, I’m Robyn and I’m a Learning Support Officer here at St. Brigid’s.  I love the sense of belonging and community felt here, built by the relationships between students, staff and families.  I believe this is St. Brigid’s greatest strength, one reason my children attended the school and why I’ve been here since 2000.
At St. Brigid’s we truly know our students – their individual needs, learning styles, motivators, likes and dislikes and their abilities. Our teamwork creates successful partnerships and improves the learning outcomes for all students – whatever their starting point.
I encourage each student’s personal belief in their ability to succeed – so that they are engaged and feel they belong, in an environment which is both playful and yet challenging.
When I’m not at St. Brigid’s, I enjoy being with my family and friends, and getting away in the bush camping and getting back to nature.
